Self Assessment tax returns

A Self Assessment tax return does not have to be a yearly worry. We prepare and file your return, work out what you owe, and make sure you know what to pay and when.

Who needs to file

You may need to complete a Self Assessment tax return if, for example, you:

  • are self-employed or a partner in a business
  • receive rental income from property
  • are a company director
  • have other untaxed income

If you are not sure whether you need to file, we can help you check.

What we do

  • Gather the information we need from you, with a simple list of what to send
  • Prepare your tax return and calculate your tax
  • Check for allowances and reliefs you are entitled to claim
  • Go through the return with you before it is submitted
  • File it with HMRC and confirm the amounts and payment dates

Key dates

The deadline for filing an online return and paying any tax owed is 31 January following the end of the tax year (which ends on 5 April). Some people also need to make payments on account in January and July. Getting your information to us early gives us time to answer any questions and gives you notice of what you need to pay.
